you (你) + good (好) = hello
A person greeting you with warmth: 好 depicts a woman (女) and child (子) together, an ancient image of goodness and wellbeing. Put them side by side and you have the classic Chinese greeting.
我每天见到她都说你好。
wǒ měi tiān jiàn dào tā dōu shuō nǐ hǎo。
